Compose

Compose is a music app that allows you to create a playlist using AI. By selecting a mix of genres, artists, and songs. It will build a playlist that is tailored to all your music needs.

Research

I began this project with a competitor analysis of the leading music apps in the industry. What areas were strengths and weaknesses, to understand what is already being offered.
I also created mind maps to explore different ideas. I noticed a gap in the market when it comes to AI.
Whilst popular apps have AI features they lack personalisation and the ability to take full advantage of all its potential to learn and adapt.
Compose meets this need, it allows you to select a mix of genres, artists, and songs creating a custom playlist that satisfies the users.

Sketch

Sketching out ideas allowed me to create what I wanted for my music app. I wanted to create a very user-friendly service that allowed complete creative freedom, whilst still being easy to use. This helped understand how each feature would work, and the icons that I needed for the designs.

Branding

The brand I wanted to build for my app was all about the users' choices. The name emphasises this ‘Compose’ as it is about allowing you to create what you want, hassle free. The colour scheme I used conveys the simplicity of the app while still highlighting features or options.
The app screens I designed display the ability to add genres and artists, helping build your own playlist. The screens show how the navigation flows and how the users will interact with it.

Overall

Working on Compose has taught me a lot, allowing me to focus on competitor analysis and identifying areas that can be improved or changed. I'm happy with the project concept, filling that hole in the market by allowing the user to use AI to be customisable in this way. I would have loved to display the idea fully and clearly.
Over summer I went back over this project making the interface and branding clearer but still didn't get the chance to show my idea in full and refine it as much as I would have liked.
